about

Stupid Famous was produced, engineered, and mixed by Jordan Viaene (bassist of Kandy Face). The album was in production from March 2014 to August 2015. Members on the album include John Pegg (vocals, rhythms guitar), Jordan Viaene (backing vocals, bass), Evan Sagar (guitar), and Jesse Rose (drums). The drums were recorded in a barn in Milton, ON, where Viaene had set up a makeshift studio to capture the large, open and clean sounding room tone that Jordan had envisioned to be a perfect sound on the album. He used several outboard preamps and over a dozen specific microphones around the drum kit and barn room through an audio interface using the industry standard DAW "Pro Tools" on a Macbook Pro. The drum sound is one of a kind, and gives the album a sonic characteristic unlike any other. The rest of the album (guitars, bass, and vocals) was recorded at Kandy Face's rehearsal spot/studio, where Viaene and Pegg had constructed their own soundproof isobooth/control room attached to their rehearsal space for the use of tracking and mixing. Kandy Face took their time tracking the album as Jordan and the band worked together to arrange the instrumentals specifically to the taste of each tune. Having always been majorly inspired by the almighty Led Zeppelin, many of the 90s grunge bands such as Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains, and a few select bands like Queens of the Stone Age, Big Wreck, and Foo Fighters just to name a few, Viaene wanted the production on the album to sound sonically alike and equal to many of these "big sounding" rock bands. Viaene achieved the sound he was looking for through many lonely and concentrated hours alone in front of his mixing monitors tweaking and shaping the sound of each instrument and piece within the album to fit and glue the songs together. With much hard work and dedication, shedding their blood, sweat and tears, Kandy Face is very proud with what they have accomplished with their fully DIY album. Kandy Face has put their utmost effort into the album to give people a taste of rock music that has yet to be heard before. The band is more than ready to show the runners of the music biz that they have the persistence, eagerness, and passion for creating unforgettable rock music and becoming an act that is long past due for performing and being heard on a big stage.
